Samson

I ran across  this picture of Samson and I skiing and I wanted to share it. As some of you know I have two dogs who are very much in different stages of life. Bogart is my old man. He is content with his 1/2 mile walks every other night and chill’n in his kennel. Samson on the other hand needs to be active.

I know that Samson and I are both excited for ski season which is almost here. He turns 4 in a couple of days and is in his prime. When the skis come out he starts running around like a wild man ready to get after it. It is great exercise for both of us and we all know that a tired dog is a good dog. You will know when ski season is in full swing because my blogging dwindles during that time. it is hard to come up with new ways of talking about skiing.

Samson has been a handful from the very beginning. He was about 6 months old when we went on our first off leash hike. It was a fun 6 miles and he loved it. He is typically better off leash then on. Over the last year we went through the training of getting him certified as a service animal for me. I joke that he is my crag, skiing, hiking, and service dog. He loves riding in the car as well but insists on sitting in the front seat like a human if there is nobody in the seat.

Last year I became a bit concerned about his warmth while skiing. He never acted like he was cold but lets face it if you had that much ice on your face you would probably be cold. This year we went to the local pet store and bought him a brand new coat. This thing rivals some of the technical winter gear I have.

Running across that picture really has me excited for ski season and I can’t wait to get out there and get after it with my dog.
