Paradox Sports RockX Shelf Road!

For the second time this year Paradox Sports descended on Shelf Road, defied gravity, and ROCKED Shelf Road. I would like to start with a big thank you to everyone who showed up and made this a successful event.
The emails and phone calls flying around on Wednesday as a winter storm rolled into the front range were fast and furious. The forecast was for 8 inches of snow in the Denver/Boulder area with a little less in Shelf Road. True to the forecast we got about 8 inches here and the million dollar question was whether we should go or not. After a few phone calls we learned that Canoñ City got about 3 inches and the forecast was for the mid 60’s during the following days.

Paradox Sports was able to secure three sponsored climbs with the largest peak project in the world, Mammut 150 peaks project. After climbing on Mt. Baker with this amazing group I was asked to assist with the Castleton Tower project. My role in this event was to be support only as the goal was to have Pete Davis (congenital arm amputee) and Sean O’Neil (paraplegic) to the top of the tower. Pete was to lead two of the 4 pitches on the tower. One of the biggest challenges of this project was the approach. It takes about an hour and is a steep, scrambling approach.

Mammut is celebrating their 150th year as a company and to celebrate they have decided to embark on the largest peak project in history. 150 teams on 150 mountains throughout the world. 150 years ago Mammut started out as a rope company and has built itself into the premier mountaineering gear company in the world. It was truly an honor to participate in this project on Mt. Baker.

I would venture to say that most Americans remember exactly what they were doing when they heard the news that planes had been flown into the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania on September 11th 2001. Ten years later our lives have changes drastically. From wars to TSA lines THAT DAY continues to impact all of us in a real way today.

I had the privilege of heading over to WB Channel 2 today and spoke with Tom Green about the Soldiers to the Summit movie. The first public premier is going to be at No Barriers this weekend! I would like to say thanks to the Daybreak crew for their hospitality.
